Account inactivity and recovery
Policy approved 26 October 2026. Applies to SwingersUK accounts.
Current status: Automatic inactivity deactivation and removal are not yet active. These are the approved rules for the planned service. No inactivity notice or recovery countdown starts just because you read this page. We will announce activation before these rules are applied.
The four rules
- Inactive account
- Deactivation after 12 months without confirmed account activity.
- Genuinely empty signup
- Removal review after 90 inactive days, only after confirming no content or outstanding obligations.
- Long-term inactive account
- Removal after five inactive years, subject to the notice, recovery and retention checks below.
- Protection before removal
- 30 days’ notice, followed by a separate 30-day recovery period before permanent removal.
What counts as inactivity?
The clock runs from your latest confirmed sign-in or intentional use of your account, including on another device. Twelve months and five years mean calendar periods. Automated background refreshes and messages received from someone else do not, by themselves, prove you are active.
Missing or incomplete activity records require review. An unfinished profile, no photo, or an empty inbox alone does not prove an account is empty. Content across the account, payments, open reports and other outstanding obligations must be checked first. The 90-day rule starts a review; it is not instant deletion.
Notice and recovery
Once the system is active, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice before an inactivity action. An account scheduled for permanent removal then has a separate 30-day recovery period, beginning when that recoverable stage actually starts. Permanent removal cannot happen during either period.
Confirmed activity or a valid recovery request stops that inactivity removal cycle. We will not treat a failed notice as delivered or shorten the recovery period because a maintenance job ran late. Keep your registered email address up to date.
Deactivation is not permanent deletion. Returning members will have a recovery route, but erased content cannot be promised back. Recovery does not remove blocks, bans, moderation restrictions or outstanding obligations, and does not bypass account verification.
Account removal and message storage are separate
These four rules concern the account as a whole. New chat photos are automatically resized and compressed below 1 MB each without AI. Separate proposed limits for sent private messages and a 100 MiB allowance for photos sent across all private chats are not active. Those proposed messaging limits do not cover profile pictures, galleries, feed posts, business content or live calls.
Five years is an inactivity threshold, not a promise to keep every record for five years or a reason to delay a deletion request. Any records needed for a specific unresolved safety, payment or legal matter require separate, limited retention review.
Removing an account entry or a photo link alone does not prove erasure of stored files, backups or copies saved by other people. We will distinguish disabled access, pending erasure and confirmed erasure.
Request help or deletion now
You do not have to wait for inactivity cleanup. Our public safety page explains how to request account deletion, privacy help or a moderation review, including when you cannot sign in.
